A Step by Step Guide to Running Jingo®

Download & Install

To host Jingo® you need to install the free Jingo® game controller. It's super easy to set up!

  • After purchasing a Jingo® pack you will receive an email from playjingo.com with a link to download and install the Jingo® game controller.
  • The music for your Jingo® game will play from this application, so make sure you are using a Windows PC or Laptop that can be connected to the venue sound system.
  • Click the link and download the installer.
  • Locate and double click the downloaded file (‘Jingo.Controller.Install’). This will start the installation process.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation of your controller software.

Dress Rehearsal

Before your Jingo® event you will receive a courier delivery with your pack of game cards. You will also find enclosed a four character game code (eg. HC7G), and a nine character download code (eg. 01FGUC7IS).

Once the Jingo® application is installed and you have received your card pack we highly recommend testing everything before your event.

  • Launch the Jingo® game controller by clicking the [Play Jingo] icon on your desktop or your Windows start menu.
  • Download your game pack by clicking [Load Game] and entering your download code. Game packs tend to be around 200mb.
  • Don't click [Activate Game Pack] until the day of your event.
  • Before the game pack has been activated it will be in test mode. Click [Start Game] to start testing.
  • Play a few song snippets in test mode to see how it works. Make sure you can clearly hear the music over the sound system at your venue.

Once the game pack has been activated, the game must be played within 14 days, as per your Jingo® purchase agreement. This cannot be extended, so make absolutely sure your event is going ahead before you activate your game pack.

Define the Rules

Like Bingo, Jingo® can be played in lots of different ways. Define the different ways to win and make them clear to your players before you start. Keep it fresh by having a different goal each game!

Small wins could include:

  • A horizontal line (5 songs) or a vertical line (4 songs)
  • All four corners
  • A block of six in the middle

The game can then continue until someone fills their card completely (full house). This gives the opportunity for four small winners and four big winners over the whole event.

If you're short on time, end the first three games after a small win and save the full house for a grand finale in the final game.

Hosting the Event

Launch the Jingo® game controller by clicking the [Play Jingo] icon on your desktop or your Windows start menu.

Click the [Load Game Pack] button and click the button with the code that matches the game you received. If you haven't downloaded the pack yet you will need to enter your download code and wait until it loads.

Once you're ready to play, click the [Activate Game Pack] button.

Click the [Start Game] button to begin the first Jingo® game. Music snippets will start playing and players can start marking songs on their cards.

The song title and artist being played will be displayed at the bottom of the controller. To view the full list of songs being played click the [Show Song List] button. Click the [Hide Song List] button to go back to the original view.

Once a player calls "Jingo®!" use the verify tool in the Jingo® controller to keep the game flowing:

  • Pause the game by clicking [Pause Game] and then click [Verify Game Card] to show the verification window.
  • Type in the verification code of the player's game card to see the songs on their card. Songs that have played are highlighted.
  • You can easily identify a line, four corners, etc. The verification window will display the word 'Winner' for a full house.
  • Once you've finished verification click [Close]. Either click [Continue Game] to resume the current game, or [End Game] to finish the current game and move on to the next colour.
